One of my themes for this year is doing more dreaming in public.
This is one of the biggest takeaways I’ve gotten from studying creator content this year and from all of the work I’ve been doing around platform building.
Because so much of building online is also about trying to attract the opportunities that you want. And making it happen! Maybe it’s writing a book or going on more podcasts or building a side business or becoming a coach.
I think there is a lot of pressure around posting things after they've already happened. Once you have a lesson to learn from, I think that is incredibly helpful content, but it's not the only kind of content you should be sharing.
Part of the reason why building in public content is so effective is because it’s relatable; you want to kind of root for the people that are trying to build something. Dreaming in public is my take on this.
It takes this extra step to talk about the work we want to do in the world. Maybe it's a place we're not quite at yet, but in the direction we want to go. There's also a neuroscience part of this, where you are envisioning this outcome you want and that makes it more likely to happen.
The magic of the internet is that you neverrrr know who's going to see that post and it could be the person to intro you to this opportunity or to make this dream thing possible.
It sounds obvious when you say it out loud, but I don’t think we do it nearly enough.

Where this idea came from 💡
I first really started thinking about this concept after my conversation with Taylor Harrington.
If you've been following Creator Diaries for a while, you might remember our chat — she's someone who is constantly using her platform on LinkedIn to talk about the work she wants to do in the world and the work she gets excited by.
For example, at one point, she posted about wanting to go on a podcast tour, and she was blown away by the responses that came from that single LinkedIn post. (Which, by the way, was how we got connected in the first place.) It eventually led to 5 interviews booked, 3 podcasts, and 2 newsletter features.

And I think this just kind of cracked open the door for her on putting things out there to see if you could make it happen.
Our conversation was super inspirational, but it also made me think about my own approach to dreaming in public. Was I hedging my bets and playing it safe? What would it look like to be a little more bold in talking about the things I want?
Turns out: a lot! And I know I’m not alone in that feeling.
Dreaming in public spottings 👀
I’ve noticed this idea catch on with other creators & founders I follow on LinkedIn. Some of my favorite examples:

I loved this response from Kora too!

Did you recently see an ad for beehiiv in a newsletter? We’re running a short brand lift survey to understand what’s actually breaking through (and what’s not).
It takes about 20 seconds, the questions are super easy, and your feedback directly helps us improve how we show up in the newsletters you read and love.
If you’ve got a few moments, we’d really appreciate your insight.
A real example from my life (recently!)
Okay so last thing I wanted to share — a cool example of how this has played out recently for me. (Which as an aside ACTION is my word for the year because I want to make sure I continue taking active steps to get where I want to go and not just letting ideas fizzle in my head or stay stuck in indecision.)
One of my goals for Creator Diaries is to go to more Creator Economy events. And ideally I'd love to start speaking at them or doing workshops. But for now, I just wanted to get in the door for a couple of these events.
So I created this LinkedIn post where I curated my dream list of events I'd want to go to if I had the time and budget.

And then — Matt, the founder of the New Media Summit, which is one of the events I was super excited about — he reached out and invited me to the conference.
I don't think it would have happened last year if I wasn't posting about it. If I wasn't showing people what I was interested in and excited about.
Here's my dream list for 2026 🎯
The internet is FULL of people who want to connect you with the right opportunities. But they can't do that if they don't know what you're looking for.
Now I'm going to take my own advice here. Here's what I'm dreaming about for this year:
1. I’d love to start monetizing Creator Diaries through sponsorships with creator economy companies (if that's you, let's talk!)
2. I want to build out my public speaking and workshop offers - and do more speaking gigs
3. I’m always looking to work with more brands that believe in the power of storytelling and want to partner to produce more content, thought leadership, etc.
What are YOUR wild, crazy dreams for 2026?!
