Building a Business and a Life That You Love
The new and improved newsletter from Cromwell Creative Co.
Hi there!
I’m so excited to bring back my newsletter with a new and improved focus: how to build a business and life that you love.
After months of brainstorming, I realized I couldn’t really decide if I wanted to focus more on entrepreneurship or personal reflections and learning. That’s when I realized that both are so intertwined for me. I needed to write about the intersection of both.
So if you’re also on the journey of freelancing or starting a business and also want to explore what it means to design your dream life along the way, you’re in the right place!
Each week I’ll be sharing what I’m learning IRL as I build my freelance writing business, one tool or product that I’m loving, and lastly one thing to read/listen to — because recommendations are my love language.
I’ll also be launching some Q&A editions where I break down some of the top reader questions I get — we’ll be covering finances, scaling your biz, building a client roster & more. Fill out this 1-question survey here if you have a topic you want me to cover.
Lastly I have a favor to ask for you. If you know anyone who’d be interested in reading this newsletter, please send them my way!
P.S. I’m testing some new newsletter features like the audio version (please excuse the creepy AI voice; it’s a work in progress!)
đź“š This week's lesson: Flexibilty is the key point
I’ve written a lot about this before, but I truly believe having control over your time and your work is one of the most empowering things you can do.
So how do you design a business and life that you love? Start with this tip below from Paul Millerd, author of The Pathless Path and Good Work.

Key lesson: I love how simple this tip is from Paul. This week, take stock of what things you’re doing that feel good (whether that’s in life or business) and try to find ways to do more of that.
For me, that’s early mornings and writing time — and I’m working on getting more both of those things in my schedule.
🛠️ Tool Spotlight
Found

What it does: An online business banking platform
Why it's valuable: Discovering Found has been one of the biggest game-changers for me. So far I’ve found my options for business banking, managing taxes, etc. have all been incredibly clunky and disjointed. Found has an incredible UI that doesn’t make me cringe when I log in (looking at you, Citibank).
And the most helpful feature for me has been its automatic taxes and sorting feature. So I’ve been able to set rules to automatically distribute a % for taxes, for paying myself, for business savings, etc. It finally feels like I’m running a real business.

Why it matters: I LOVE case studies like this. There are so many creators out there just like Gillian who are making a lot of money and working on their own terms. This article has a TON of practical advice and takeaways that you can apply if you’re wanting to build your own creator business.
Top insight: Use social media (Gillian used Youtube mostly) to get a broad TOFU audience — then spend most of your time building and selling through an email list.
Struggling to get enough eyeballs on your content?
Posting on LinkedIn or social media won't do the trick; visibility only lasts 24 hours.
But a well-written article stays relevant and accessible for YEARS.
This is how top companies consistently reinforce their expertise.
You can do the same.
Here are 3 ways to start today:
Build your own Newsroom: Create a central news hub on your website to build trust.
Place your brand in top tier magazines: Target industry-specific magazines to reach a larger, more relevant audience.
Get featured in magazines for free: Increase your chances of getting noticed by journalists by publishing regularly.
Sounds like a lot of work, but not when you use Pressmaster.ai.
Create and publish valuable articles in minutes, and access top magazines for 40% less than the market average.
That's all for this week! I’ve got some ideas up my sleeve for future issues, but let me know what you’d like to see here next:
